microfiche. Base files 1950's through 1979, Intermediate
files 1979 through late 1980's, Updates are through late
80's with the last update being through April. 1998. We
no longer receive completion cards on fiche but
subscribe to Scout Express on CD-ROM which is received
on a weekly basis.

Covers Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi,
Arkansas, Alabama, Offshore. (Note: Louisiana Parishes,
Ayolles, Rapides and Vernon cross North and South
Louisiana, but are filed only in South Louisiana.)
Scout Tickets
A large portion of the Library's scout tickets are
The Pure Oil Company's scout tickets which were donated
to the library by Apache Corporation. The chain of title
of these scout tickets is as follows: Union Oil of
California and The Pure Oil Company merged in the
1960's. Union Oil either sold or donated the scout
tickets to Dow Chemical Company, Dow Chemical's Oil and
Gas Division was acquired by Apache Corporation and the
scout tickets went to Apache. Apache donated the scout
tickets to the Gulf Coast Library. The scout tickets
include over 172,000 wells that were drilled between
1930 and 1960, other donations include the old Lyons Oil
Co. tickets and Associated Oil & Gas Co. tickets. |
